iPhone Support & Troubleshooting
Independent, step-by-step guidance for the most common iPhone issues — from battery and charging to Face ID, Wi-Fi, storage and performance.
Your iPhone handles calls, photos, payments and everything in between, so when something goes wrong it is genuinely disruptive. Below you will find practical troubleshooting guidance for the issues we help with most often. Work through the relevant steps at your own pace, and if you get stuck, our independent support team is one message away.
Battery drains too quickly
Battery drain is one of the most common iPhone complaints, and it usually comes down to background activity, screen settings or a single misbehaving app. The good news is that most cases improve significantly with a few adjustments.
- Check Battery in Settings to see which apps consume the most power, then limit background activity for the worst offenders.
- Lower screen brightness, enable Auto-Brightness, and reduce the Auto-Lock time.
- Turn on Low Power Mode when you need to stretch the day out.
- Disable Background App Refresh for apps you rarely open.
- Make sure your software is up to date, as updates often include battery fixes.
If your battery drains dramatically even after these steps, the battery's physical health may be degraded. We can help you check your battery health reading and understand what it means.
Charging problems
When your iPhone will not charge, or charges slowly, the cause is often the cable, adapter or a dirty charging port rather than the phone itself.
- Try a different cable and power adapter to rule out a faulty accessory.
- Gently inspect and clean the charging port — lint and debris build up surprisingly fast.
- Plug directly into a wall outlet instead of a computer or hub to confirm adequate power.
- Restart the device, which can clear a temporary charging glitch.
If the phone still refuses to charge across multiple cables and outlets, the issue may be hardware-related. We will help you confirm this before you consider a repair.
Activation issues
Activation problems typically appear during setup, after a reset, or when moving to a new SIM. They can be caused by network, SIM or account factors.
- Confirm you have a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection during activation.
- Check that your SIM is properly seated, and try removing and reinserting it.
- Restart the device and attempt activation again after a few minutes.
Please note: Activation Lock tied to a previous owner's account can only be removed by that original owner or the device manufacturer. As an independent service we cannot bypass account locks — and you should be cautious of anyone who claims they can.
Face ID not working
If Face ID stops recognising you, it is often a settings or positioning issue rather than a fault.
- Make sure the front camera area is clean and not covered by a case or screen protector.
- Hold the phone at a natural distance — roughly arm's length — in reasonable lighting.
- In Settings, set up an Alternate Appearance to improve recognition.
- If recognition is consistently poor, reset Face ID and enrol your face again.
Apps crash or won't open
App crashes are usually fixed by refreshing the app or clearing a temporary glitch.
- Force-close the app and reopen it.
- Restart your iPhone to clear memory.
- Update the app to its latest version, and update iOS if available.
- As a last resort, delete and reinstall the app (back up any in-app data first).
Wi-Fi connection issues
Wi-Fi trouble can stem from the phone, the router or the network settings.
- Toggle Wi-Fi off and on, then reconnect to your network.
- Forget the network and rejoin it by entering the password again.
- Restart both your iPhone and your router.
- If problems persist across networks, reset your network settings.
Bluetooth pairing problems
Bluetooth issues usually clear up by refreshing the connection.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again.
- Forget the device, then pair it again from scratch.
- Keep devices close together and away from interference during pairing.
- Ensure the accessory is charged and in pairing mode.
Software glitches & freezing
Random freezes and glitches are typically resolved by a restart, and occasionally a fuller reset of settings.
- Restart the device to clear temporary software issues.
- Check for and install any pending iOS updates.
- If a single app is involved, reinstall it.
- As a step of last resort, reset all settings (this keeps your data but returns preferences to default).
Software update failed
Failed updates are often caused by low storage, an unstable connection or insufficient charge.
- Connect to stable Wi-Fi and keep the device on charge during the update.
- Free up storage space — updates need room to download and install.
- Restart and try again; delete the partially downloaded update first if needed.
Storage is full
A full iPhone slows down and blocks updates and backups. Reclaiming space is usually straightforward.
- Review iPhone Storage in Settings to see what is using the most space.
- Offload unused apps and delete large videos you have already backed up.
- Clear downloaded content in streaming and podcast apps.
- Move photos and files to a cloud service or computer.
Slow performance
If your iPhone feels sluggish, a few maintenance steps usually bring back some speed.
- Restart the device — this alone resolves many slowdowns.
- Free up storage, as a nearly full device performs poorly.
- Update iOS and your apps.
- Reduce visual effects and background refresh for a lighter experience.
